Fiscal pedophiles.
The Republican party has become a haven for these letches who have somehow turned around the facts to blame their own fiscal recklessness on the Democrats. We all know what they’re doing to the next generation but so many people have been taking a “don’t ask, don’t tell” approach that Republican fiscal recklessness is becoming mainstream.
If we all ran our personal bank accounts the way Republican politicians run the government coffers, we would go bankrupt. Unfortunately the media is chock-full of GOP apologists who seek to justify violating our young with crippling debt in favor of tax cuts in the short term. Wittingly or not, they’ve become like NAMBLA (North America Man/Boy Love Association) only they’re justifying fiscal pedophilia – yet another violation of the young. Sadly, there aren’t enough watchdogs who are willing to tell it the way it is.
Once again, Republican congressmen have raised the debt ceiling because apparently the $8.1 trillion debt (yes, that’s trillion with a ‘T’) isn’t high enough.
Bush is cutting education funding and environmental protection while increasing military spending and promising his corporate buddies more tax cuts. When did the American people lose their ability to add? Borrowing to pay the day-to-day expenses of running government does nothing more than put the bills off until another day. But in this case, it’s not another day -- it’s another year and even another generation.
Tommy Thompson drove up the State of Wisconsin’s infrastructure debt by embarking on a highway and prison building orgy he masterminded in the 90’s and now it’s our kids who are going to have to pay for it.
In Milwaukee
County, County Executive Scott Walker managed to shift the sales tax
revenue that had been paying down the county's mortgage, and
funneled it into the operating budget -- and he got the help of his
Republican cronies in the state Legislature to change state law so
he could do it! That mortgage debt continues to rise.
To make matters worse, Walker tried to get the County Board to go along with a scheme to borrow money to
gamble on the stock market in the hopes that the margin, should there have been one, could be used to hold down taxes. It would have been the children who would have gotten the bill for this scheme.
If there’s one way to build resentment and to turn people against each other it’s to force somebody else to pay your bills. Today’s parents and grandparents are lining up at the polls and supporting Republicans despite the fact that their own kids and grandkids will be the ones who pay the price.
The Republicans don’t have any fiscal restraint. They’re not cutting back on helping their corporate buddies, but the poor and the young are getting screwed. Worse yet, they’re trying to make these borrowed money tax cuts permanent. As though some fairy will float by some evening and make the deficit go away, they’re posing for holy pictures and saying they’re on the side of the taxpayer.
Which taxpayer?
Is it the taxpayer who doesn’t give a damn about their kids? Is it some freak show who gets off on screwing over children -- because spending now with the known reality that it’s your kids who are going to have to pay the bills is plain and simple fiscal pedophilia. It’s wrong.
How could anyone with any common sense or decency do this?
When a pedophile has his way with a victim it is dirty and the victim must live with the anger for the rest of his life. When a Republican politician victimizes a child by forcing that child to pay for his own misdeeds it is also immoral and irresponsible. As that child grows to adulthood, he or she will continue to carry their anger for either crime.
Pretending that the growing problem of our crippling debt will go away is pure whimsy. It would be nice if the good fairy would sprinkle anti-debt dust on the problem, but it’s not going to happen. We won’t grow our way out of this problem and it’s only going to get worse if we continue along the path we are following.
It’s tiring to hear long-winded Dem politicians whining about how what’s happening in our government is wrong headed and reciting tomes about how we can fix everything. There’s a reason why Democrats keep getting stomped at the polls. Give it to the people straight. Keep it simple. Tell them what’s happening. Tell them about how and when the bills are going to come due. If they decide to strip any economic security away from their children, call them what they are -- sickos. Fiscal pedophiles.
But no, Democrats have got to be ladies and gentlemen. Guess what? Politics is no longer a place for ladies and gentlemen. It’s no place for the squeamish. Remember Tom Foley? How about Max Cleland? Sure, they’re good guys but they’re EX-Senators.
So break it down, Dems. Senator Harry Reid was right, albeit a little tame, when he called the GOP borrow and spend policies a “birth tax.” Take it to the next step. Call it what it is: Fiscal Pedophilia. Tell the people what’s happening and keep it simple. If you don’t, you’re going to continue to lose.
